Louisiana
Louisiana provides a 50% tax credit for the purchase and installation of solar energy systems purchased and installed on or after January 1, 2008. There is no cap on the number of systems that can be installed on a home or apartment building, so long as the total production of the systems does not exceed the building’s electricity consumption.
Federal
There are multiple federal tax incentives that may apply to your business; however, the Business Energy Investment Tax Credit is generally applicable to most businesses while providing the largest impact to your bottom line.
The credit is equal to 30% of expenditures, with no maximum credit. Eligible solar energy property includes equipment that uses solar energy to generate electricity, to heat or cool (or provide hot water for use in) a structure, or to provide solar process heat. The taxpaying company must purchase or install the solar units.
